What’s up people? Today we’re talking about appreciating your guests with a tasty, delicious dessert selection for your event.

An event is always more special when guests are treated to a delicious dessert to conclude the day or evening. At Early Star Caterers, we are committed to serving great desserts which often leave guests wanting seconds.

The dessert is often the guests’ most anticipated meal of any event, but sadly, the host’s most forgettable part. So don’t disappoint your attendees, and make sure you take the time to choose the most sublime dessert. This will make sure you’re leaving the best ‘last impression’ for your event. It is the very last opportunity to knock the socks off your guests and send them off on a good note.

We have researched ways in which you can make the ultimate decision on your dessert at your next event.

The best way to choose the right dessert, is first and foremost, by deciding on your dessert first. Dessert is the most important course as it gives your guests something sweet and refreshing to look forward too. So, when you plan your event, start from the bottom and choose your dessert first. Then make sure that your other dishes are balanced accordingly. Good balance is key to a good menu!

Choosing the dessert that is the most visually appealing to you and one that will tie in with theme of your event is also very important. The consistency of the styling of your event and the look of your dessert is just as important as the taste. Dessert is usually a privilege and not a necessity, so having it look suited to your event, gives your guests more reason to eat it. Also – we eat with our eyes first, hey!?

Another handy tip to remember is that desserts, although usually sweet, don’t necessarily have to be. Consider asking your venue about a cheese board supper plate, or choosing a fruit based dessert item rather than the heavy, triple chocolate deluxe dish that might have initially caught your eye.

The way in which you decide to have your dessert served is also something that you will need to take into consideration. Although the standard sit down dessert where you can choose to have two dishes served alternatively is usually the way to go, a roaming dessert might be a more of a crowd pleaser. Roving desserts act as an alternative to a seated dessert option, where you can select two roving desserts to be served canapé style to your guests. You guests will be able to try all the desserts on offer, rather than trying to have bite of someone else’s on their table. This also allows for post event mingling, or dancing, if that’s the style of occasion you’re hosting.
